Glass Office Partitions & Cabins

Open, bright workspaces with defined rooms: frameless and slim-framed glass partitions.

Technically reviewed by Er. Sanjay M. & Er. Aravind M.Civil Engineers, CIT Coimbatore · 10+ years in facades · Reviewed 7 Oct 2026

Glass office partitions are interior walls made mainly of toughened glass, either frameless in slim floor and ceiling channels or held in slim aluminium frames, used to create cabins and meeting rooms that keep an office bright and open. Cladex Elevations installs glass office partitions in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Glass office partitions are interior walls built mainly of toughened glass that divide an office into cabins, meeting rooms and team areas without cutting off daylight. In a frameless system, 10 mm or 12 mm toughened glass panels stand in slim aluminium channels at floor and ceiling, with butt joints between panels. In a framed system, the glass sits in slim aluminium profiles that give a lighter, more economical structure.

Modern offices in Coimbatore's IT parks, co-working spaces, banks, clinics and corporate floors use glass partitions because they make a floor feel larger and keep teams visible to each other while still giving managers and meetings their own rooms. Our engineer-led team plans the layout with you, including door swings, privacy bands, data and power routes, and how the partitions meet the false ceiling and AC grilles.

The details make a glass office work: doors that close smoothly on floor springs, frosted bands at eye level so nobody walks into a glass wall, privacy where it is needed, and enough sound control for confidential conversations. Glass cannot be cut on site once toughened, so careful measurement and planning at the start decide how well the finished partitions fit. This page explains the frameless and framed options, how to handle privacy and sound, and what drives the cost.

Benefits

Why choose office glass partitions

01

Daylight reaches everyone

Glass lets window light travel deep into the floor, so inner desks and cabins are not left in the dark.

02

A bigger-feeling office

Transparent walls keep sight lines open, making even compact offices feel spacious and modern.

03

Visible, connected teams

Managers and teams can see each other while still having separate rooms for focused work and calls.

04

Privacy on demand

Frosted or patterned films and blinds give privacy exactly where needed, without solid walls.

05

Professional image

Clean glass cabins and meeting rooms impress clients and candidates walking through the office.

06

Reconfigurable

Glass partition systems can be dismantled and adapted when the office grows, unlike masonry walls.

How it's built

Office Glass Partitions, explained in drawings

Aluminium office partition (elevation)Front elevation of an aluminium partition between floor and ceiling. Aluminium frame sections, typically 2.5 inch or 4 inch, sit in a ceiling channel and a floor channel. Two fixed bays have glass in the upper part and a board or ACP panel below a mid rail. The left bay holds a door with a handle and lock, with a glass fanlight above the door head.Ceiling channelGlass panelAluminium frame2.5″ or 4″ sectionMid railBoard or ACPlower panelFloor channelDoorhandle & lockFanlightglass
An aluminium partition is a frame of 2.5″ or 4″ sections held between ceiling and floor channels, glazed above a mid rail, panelled below, with a door bay where needed.

Frameless vs framed glass partitions

Frameless partitions use thick toughened glass, usually 10 mm or 12 mm, held only in slim channels at floor and ceiling, with clear joints between panels. They give the most open, premium look, ideal for directors' cabins and client-facing meeting rooms. Because the glass carries itself, accurate measurement and level channels are critical.

Framed partitions hold the glass in slim aluminium profiles, which can be powder-coated to match the interior. They are more economical, allow thinner glass, can take double glazing with blinds between the panes, and handle uneven floors and ceilings more easily. Many offices use frameless glass at the front of a cabin and framed or solid partitions between cabins.

Privacy, sound and safety in a glass office

Privacy is easy to add: frosted films applied as bands at seated eye level hide desk surfaces while keeping the room bright, and blinds can close a meeting room fully when needed. Acid-etched glass gives a permanent frosted finish that does not peel. We help you choose how much privacy each room needs instead of frosting everything.

Sound is harder. Single glass partitions reduce noise but are not soundproof. For confidential cabins, laminated glass, double-glazed partitions, good door seals and taking the partition up to the slab above the false ceiling all improve sound privacy. For safety, clear glass walls and doors should carry visible markings at eye level so people do not walk into them.

What affects the cost of glass office partitions

The partition system is the main factor: frameless 12 mm glass, slim framed systems and double-glazed partitions all sit at different price points. Glass type, such as clear, extra-clear, laminated or acid-etched, and the number of glass doors and their hardware come next, because floor springs and patch fittings are a significant part of the cost.

The total length and height, films and blinds, how the partitions meet the ceiling and AC system, and whether work has to happen after office hours also affect the final figure. FAQ

Office Glass Partitions: questions answered

What is the cost of glass office partitions?

Glass office partition cost depends on the system (frameless, framed or double-glazed), glass type and thickness, the number of glass doors and their hardware, films and blinds, the total length and height, and site conditions such as ceiling junctions and after-hours work. Cladex visits your office, measures it and sends a free quote on WhatsApp, with options at different price levels.

Which glass thickness is used for office partitions?

Frameless office partitions usually use 10 mm or 12 mm toughened glass, because the glass must stand on its own in floor and ceiling channels. 12 mm is preferred for taller panels and frameless glass doors. Framed partitions can use thinner toughened glass because the aluminium profiles give support. Laminated glass is chosen where better sound reduction is needed.

Are glass partitions soundproof?

No glass partition is completely soundproof, but sound privacy can be improved a lot. Laminated glass reduces noise better than plain toughened glass of similar thickness, double-glazed partitions perform better still, and seals on doors and taking the partition up to the slab above the false ceiling stop sound leaking over the top and around the edges.

How do I get privacy with glass cabin partitions?

The usual approach is frosted or patterned film applied in bands at seated eye level, which hides desks and screens while keeping the cabin bright. Acid-etched glass gives a permanent frosted finish. For meeting rooms that sometimes need full privacy, venetian or roller blinds, or blinds sealed inside double-glazed partitions, can be closed when required.

Frameless or framed glass partition: which is better?

Frameless partitions look more open and premium, using 10 mm or 12 mm toughened glass in slim channels, and suit director cabins and client meeting rooms. Framed partitions use slim aluminium profiles, cost less, handle uneven floors better and can include double glazing with blinds. The better choice depends on budget, image and how much privacy and sound control you need.

What doors are used in glass office partitions?

Frameless glass doors are usually hung on patch fittings with a floor spring, which controls closing speed and holds the door open at set angles. Pivot doors and sliding glass doors on a top track are also common. Framed partitions often use aluminium-framed hinged or sliding doors. Locks, handles and the floor spring rating should suit the glass weight and usage.

Can glass partitions be installed in an existing office?

Yes. Glass partitions are fixed to the existing floor, walls and ceiling or slab, so they can be installed in a working office with limited disruption, often in phases or after hours. We check floor level, ceiling type and AC and electrical layouts first, because frameless glass needs level channels and must be made to exact sizes before toughening.
